Members Present: Charles Kramer, Tim Maass (arrived at 8:15 p.m.), Don Gonnering, Robert Valentine and Dean Sitar.              

Others Present:  Clerk Barb Seegers and Police Chief Jim Molloy

DISCUSS VACATING VANDEN BOSCH RD – GOLDEN GLOW TO CTY HWY J

Jim Ostrom of Tidy View noted that he is working with lobbyists in Madison to address the issues on damage to roads and asked the Board to hold off until the State reviews this.  Tabled

 

ORVILLE GONNERING REQUEST ON SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS

Discussion held on Gonnering request for compensation for right of way.  No promises were made to compensate Mr. Gonnering.  He agreed to the ROW on his CSM and the Town agreed to put in a curb cut and extend utilities into the cut.

 

RE-CONSIDERATION OF FIRE ORDINANCE

Motion by Kramer/Sitar to reconsider the approval of the fire ordinance.  5 Yes 0 No MC

Items that need to be addressed: reimbursement of police calls to major burns, approval of burn barrels outside the Sanitary District with 1” square mesh cover, and enforcement /inspections done by Fire Dept.

 

REVIEW/ACTION ON COUNTER OFFER ON PREVEA CLINIC PURCHASE

Counter offer received at $700,000 and cost of water.  Building noted that with alterations the building will come in at approx. $145 per square foot.  A new building would run approx. $130 per square foot.  Hidden costs like the land and parking lot were also discussed.

Motion by Gonnering/Maass to approve the counter offer contingent on the costs of remodeling.  3 Yes 2 No (Maass, Valentine).  Motion carried

Motion by Maass/Valentine to add a contingency requiring a referendum vote.  5 Yes 0 No MC

 

ELECTRIC VEHICLES ON TOWN ROADS

Chief Molloy will research this issue and report back to Board.

 

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

Chairman Kramer told the Board that they must continue to pursue the take over of the Sanitary District and also attaining village status to preserve our borders.

 

ANNOUNCEMENT AND ACCEPTANCE OF TOWN CHAIRPERSON’S RETIREMENT

Kramer submitted his letter of retirement to the Board.

Motion by Maass/Sitar to accept Charles Kramer’s retirement from the Town Board effective at midnight on May 30, 2007.  3 Yes 1 No (Gonnering)  Motion carried.

 

Clerk will proceed with advertising for a resident to appoint to the Town Board to fill the unexpired term.
