Garbage & Recycling

The purpose of solid waste operations is to provide Town of Freedom's residents with a cost effective, environmentally correct, and quality service of weekly solid waste and bi-weekly recycling collection.

Our goals are to provide curbside collection service to all residents living in single-family and two-family homes and some multi-family homes. We hope to provide exceptional customer service by responding to complaints and to effectively educate the public on proper handling/disposal of solid waste and potential hazards.

To Begin Garbage Service:
The current Town of Freedom solid waste and recycling provider is Harter's Fox Valley Disposal.  To begin your garbage service or should you have problems with your garbage/recycling pickup, please contact Harter's Customer Service Department at 1-888-804-8556.

How Is My Garbage Billed: The garbage billing is placed yearly on your tax bill as a special charge.  The tax bills are generally mailed by the County Treasurer's office in December.

Holiday Schedule: There will be NO solid waste/recycling collection on the following days.

  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day

If your regular collection day falls on one of these holidays, your garbage will be collected on the following day.  Friday collections will be done on Saturday.  If the holiday falls on a weekend, there will be no delay in garbage pickup.  Your regular pick up day will remain the same.

Garbage and recycling bins should be placed by 5am along the road/curb for pickup.
